First of all, what is a Doula?

The word “Doula” came from Ancient Greek, meaning “ the servant of the woman”.

A Doula is a trained professional (non-medical) who provides continuous physical, emotional and practical support to a mother, her family/friends, before, during and after childbirth.

The intention of a Doula is to support a mother to live the healthiest, and most satisfying birth experience as possible.

In my role as a Doula, I offer my services to you before, during and after the birth.

Before the birth

Answer any non-medical questions, information you would need regarding your birth preparation and beyond.

Accompany you to a medical appointment (I also can translate between : French, English and Japanese).

Listen to and support you with any worries or concerns you may be having.

Inform you about the importance of birth preparation and also the postpartum.

During the birth

Be present at your birth (alongside medical professional) to support you continuously.

Be present for your family and friends, if they need informations or support.

After the birth

Be present immediately after the birth and during your postpartum period for a healthy and quicker recovery.

I will be there to ensure you are well informed, supported, listened and honored during this

life changing event we call “Birth”.

My 2 own pregnancies and births made me realize the importance of being supported and heard during that special time of a woman's life.

Our doula's support was life changing, especially because I gave birth to our first child in the US, far from our family and culture. Our second child was born in France, and despite the fact that we were familiar with the country, our doula's support was extremely precious for us.

Being heard without jugment, being able to access local and specific information quickly and being supported emotionally..., all those little details contributed to smoothen our journey of birth and postpartum.

And they definitely inspired me to become a Doula one day...

An important note about the role of a doula:

A Doula is NOT a Midwife who has been medically trained, and will NOT substitute any medical professional for that reason.
